Torrential downpours make driving conditions extra tricky…. remember aquaplaning happens when a wedge of water builds up between the front tyres and the road surface. The vehicle will not respond to braking or steering. The safest way to regain control is to remove pressure from the accelerator, allowing the vehicle to lose speed and the tyres to regain their grip. Do not turn the steering wheel or the vehicle will lurch whichever way the wheels are pointing when the tyre regain their grip.
